Summer Tennis at Sandhurst  10th June - 1st July 2021

Summer Tennis at Sandhurst

Description:

Tennis at Sandhurst is continuing for the summer with John Lovegrove and James Vass returning as our coaches. As we are still dealing with COVID-19, we will have measures in place for health and safety purposes. Please make sure you read all the safety information on this page and are happy with it before booking. Any questions can be sent to beck@binaryhoney.com.

We are running tennis for the full summer term up until the beginning of July, but are splitting it into two halves. This booking form is for the second half term. Those who have booked for the first half term have their spaces reserved for the second half term, but new families are also welcome to join at this stage.

Please note that if the weather is inhospitable, we may need to cancel on the day of the event. In this case, we will work with the coaches to offer a catch up session where possible, and a refund if not.

COVID-19 SAFETY MEASURES FOR TENNIS

  • Sessions will be 45 minutes long
  • Lessons will be limited to 6 kids per court plus coach. This is less than the current LTA guidelines recommendations of a maximum of 12 per court, as we feel it will be impossible to maintain any semblance of social distancing with the higher number of children.
  • There will be 5 minutes between each session to allow for safe, socially distanced changeover between lessons
  • We will provide hand sanitiser on court and will ask players to use it upon entering and leaving; players can, of course, bring their own hand sanitiser to use instead, which we recommend to minimise shared use of surfaces
  • To manage social distancing whilst queuing for hand sanitiser or entry/exit to the courts, we will provide markings and directions
  • Coaches will adapt lessons to enable social distancing, e.g., by avoiding or altering drills or games that require close contact and reminding kids not to chase after balls if they bounce or roll onto another court
  • According to current LTA guidelines, tennis balls can be shared during a lesson. This will be the case for our sessions and so players should be careful to adopt good hand hygiene by sanitising hands before and after a lesson and avoiding touching their face during a lesson. We advise players to bring their own hand sanitiser to avoid touching a communal supply, but we will provide it on all courts as well in case anyone forgets.
  • Players should bring their own equipment, such as tennis rackets, where possible. Subject to confirmation, there may be a limited supply to use for any who forget or do not have a racket; we will clean any shared rackets thoroughly before and after each use.
  • Players should avoid physical contact with others on court, e.g., no high fives or shaking hands
  • Players should allow others to go through the court entrance before them and wait if necessary to allow one person at a time to pass
  • Players should follow basic COVID hygiene advice while on court, such as using a tissue or their upper arm when sneezing. We will provide signage to remind players of this information on court.

We ask that families and players

  • Book using our online booking system and do not pay in cash
  • Check on the day of their lesson that they do not have any COVID-19 symptoms. The NHS symptom checker web site can help with this – https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/. If a player or anyone in their household has any COVID-19 symptoms, we ask that they do not attend their tennis lesson.
  • Arrive as close to the start time of their lesson as possible
  • Do not congregate outside the tennis courts before, during or after lessons. For this reason, we ask that parents of children that are happy to attend lessons alone drop off their children and do not stay in the area of the tennis courts. Parents of young children or children who may need support from a parent during a lesson may stay in the area outside the tennis courts, but should maintain social distancing at all times and should gather in groups no larger than 6 people.
  • Please be considerate of our relationship with the council if they choose to stay in the park after tennis has finished, as we are well-known to them and there is the potential for our use of the tennis courts being affected if people gather in large groups (government guidance on group gatherings can be found at https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus).
  • Provide contact details at the point of booking; this is part of what we do normally, so we can communicate with you in the case of a session being rained off, but you should be aware that it may also be used to enable track and trace should it be necessary. As part of this, we will be taking an attendance register each week.
  • Leave the tennis courts area promptly at the end of their lesson.

LTA guidelines also recommend that players

  • Clean their rackets before and after use
  • Bring their own water and food and do not share with others
  • Make sure they take all belongings with them and do not leave anything on site
  • Use sanitiser after touching any shared surfaces such as gate or door handles
